“The Brompton is a natural choice for electric conversion: it has those small wheels which are essential if the direct-drive motor is to deliver enough hill-start torque (or acceleration away from the front of a queue of traffic at the lights) without needing to modify the bottom bracket to exploit crank gears; in addition, it’s folding ability is the best in the world so you don’t need to leave it locked up outside at risk. In the past, I have converted other conventional bikes, but none of them have come close to the Nano in terms of value for money, performance and reliability. Since 2011, I have ridden over 18,000 miles (not sure how much more!) and, before retiring, commuted 110 miles a week in all weathers. A good electric bike is the quickest and most efficient way to get across a busy city and, because the law limits the power well below maximum cycling speed, you can still push for the exercise benefit. So, I have saved 9 years of gym fees and London commuting costs - all for the price of a well-designed kit fitted to a damned good bike. Finally, beware other kit designs for front wheel drive: unless direct control of the pedelec drive output or anti-skid software is provided, walk away – high torque front-wheel drive two-wheeled vehicles are inherently hazardous in slippery conditions. The Nano solution is brilliant and simple. AE

We live on a steep hill, a mile up from the shops and a quick pop down for a loaf is no longer to be feared or planned well in advance. Anthony

The Nano Brompton has helped me get out cycling again after an ankle problem. It’s a well designed, quality product , and the service I have received has been really amazing. The Oregon battery may not let me repeat my ‘ Folding up Scotland’ trip to John O’Groats, but it gets me to my shed, and encourages me to pedal as much as I can. Bob
